Taryn Brandes specializes in tenant representation for best-in-class restaurants and lifestyle retailers in the Greater New York Metro Market. Further, she serves as master broker for widely recognized food and beverage brands expanding nationwide in flagship cities.
Winner of the 2017 Rising Star Award by the NYC Commercial Observer Power 100 Issue, as well as New York City’s Top 30 Under 30 Real Estate Stars in 2014, Taryn is recognized for her ability to develop and execute brand growth strategies for her clients. Her clients in the New York Metro Region currently include Brown Bag Seafood Co., By Chloe, Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings and WTHN Acupuncture, as well as Yardbird, Rosa Mexicano and Quality Branded Restaurants on a national level.
Prior to joining Charter, Taryn worked at SCG Retail, an urban division of The Shopping Center Group. While working on behalf of both tenant and landlords in New York City, Taryn’s passion and focus was on market entry and expansion roll-outs for food and beverage tenants. She takes a strategic approach to her clients’ expansion plans by leveraging her understanding of retail brands, hospitality and consumer behaviors.
Her exclusive clients over the years include Sweetgreen, Starbucks, Sugarfish, Cava Grill, Papyrus, Outdoor Voices, Tacombi, Flour Shop and Oath Pizza. Taryn was an integral part of Sweetgreen’s expansion strategy in New York City, growing the chain to 25 locations in the region in just over five years.
Active in the community, Taryn is co-chair of ICSC’s New York City Next Generation Committee as well as a member of REBNY. She sits on the UJA Federation REX Planning Committee, and is also on the board of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Young Professionals New York Chapter.
Taryn earned a BS degree from Tufts University. She grew up in Westchester County, NY and now resides in Manhattan. Taryn has a passion for innovative food and beverage concepts, great hospitality, hip hop dance and freestyle skiing.
